affinity wedding services, based in south west Sheffield, was founded by and is run by Jo Green. Jo, a member of the International Wedding Planners Association, is a professionally qualified, independent co-ordinator of weddings and their associated events.
Coming from a successful previous career background in logistics and operations management, as well as being a qualified interior designer
and holding a bachelors degree in business, and combined with a reputation of organising and planning hugely successful events, group holidays, large-scale parties etc, Jo was able to put her existing skills to good use when independently planning and arranging her own quite unusual and unique wedding.
This consisted of a civil ceremony on an isolated cliff top over looking the sea in a far flung corner of New Zealand, followed by a reception for 25 in a small coastal village in New Zealand - Jo also researched and organised accommodation for all the guests travelling from the UK, Australia and New Zealand, as well as 'wedding week activities'!
Back in the UK, Jo had organised a grander-scale wedding celebration and reception for 120 guests.
After realising how much she had enjoyed planning her own wedding, and how good she was at it, Jo decided to do it professionally. She realised that by utilising her excellent skills in planning and organising, combined with her creative flair and desire for perfection she could help other couples achieve their perfect day, enabling them to relax and enjoy the experience from start to finish.
Jo then embarked on backing up her own knowledge, experience and skills with a formal qualification. Jo now holds the IWPA Certificate in Professional Wedding Planning.
Jo has carried out extensive research within the South Yorkshire and Peak District areas, plus further a-field into West and North Yorkshire, and has compiled a portfolio of wedding venues and suppliers servicing these areas for both religious or civil marriages and civil partnerships, as well as having obtained preferential discounts from a selection of suppliers to pass onto her clients.
